Report

The second of St Roch’s pre season friendlies saw the Candy record a 4-0 score line for the second time in 4 days.

The set up at Kilsyth is fantastic with a great wee stadium and fantastic playing surface. It was exactly the kind of set up that we at St Roch’s aspire to.

Kilsyth in the Super Premier First division had some key personnel missing and this was their 1st game of pre season and these could have been a factor as St Roch’s came out of traps quickest and kept the ball well against the higher league team.
An early OG after good pressing from Marc McDonnell was quickly followed by a good goal from Jordan Logan, who was composed to step in from the right and place into the bottom corner.
Kilsyth had some decent possession but did not really trouble the Candy rearguard with only a long distance effort going past via the post was thier closest effort.

The away side had another couple of good chances on the counter attack with the best falling to Kenny Jarvis. On 35 minutes, Logan got his second of the day and the goal of the game with a great finish after great set up play involving Mark Mathieson, Jarvis, Baboucarr Mussa and McDonnell, making it  3-0 at the break.

Half Time

The first of the changes came at the interval with Robert Maguire and Steven Mathers replacing John Stark. The second half saw s further 7 changes so keeping any momentum was difficult, however Mussa made it 4-0 just before the hour and McDonnell had a great chance for a fifth

For the last half hour Kilsyth were very much on top and had opportunities to get back into game but good goalkeeping, defending and some erratic finishing gave St Roch’s our second clean sheet of pre season – incidentally the same number that we got got whole of last season.

Summary : A good football match with good debuts from Jason Mccormick and Mathers

So 20 players got game time and a good performance and result

Next up is Port Glasgow at home on Saturday
