In the past week, local lad, Danny Irvine, decided to leave the club and seek a new club.
The versatile full back, signed for the club in 2015 and always impressed, be it in his attacking full back role or even when pushing into midfield. However, Danny has struggled to hold down a regular role in the team and has taken the opportunity to break from the club before the end of March deadline to sign for another club.
Before the likable Irvine, departed, 1920TV grabbed a few words.
“I have decided to leave St Roch’s as I didn’t feature a lot in the second part of the season, i just want to play football and enjoy it again, I got a few offers from other junior clubs but I signed with the Blackhill Brae just to get the enjoyment back and buzz about football again. My future plans is to get back playing junior football again after helping Blackhill win the league and hopefully other cups.”
“One of my personal highlights was when I set big B (Baboucarr Musa) up for a last minute winner at Maryhill, seeing the fans going mental and it was a class feeling.”
“When I was younger I use to be a supporter for the Roch so I know what it meant to all the fans. That’s why I always gave it 100% when I played. Thanks for your support in the last couple seasons it’s been a pleasure and hope the boys do it this year for you, as you deserve it for your great support”
“Short term, i think this will be the year for the club and players to win the league or get promoted, there is great quality in the dressing room and togetherness and for the long term, we have competed with the teams in the league above us every time we have met them in cup games so think they could compete in the super first division.
“I would like to thank St Roch’s for the last couple of season.”
We would wish Danny all the very best at Blackhill Braes and good luck in the future.
